Tournament series in Bucharest and Ilfov 16

Bucharest tournaments tend to come in numbered series. At Hotel CARO on Bulevardul Barbu Văcărescu, ACS Jocul Celor 3 Cai runs the Weekend Șahist Bucureștean, the Blitzul de la ora cinci and the Trofeul CARO, all well past their tenth editions. The Oxygen club and its academy hold a festival at ICHB Colentina each February, an international festival named after Florin Gheorghiu each March, the Bitcoin Romania Chess Open and the Cupa Academiei de Șah, along with stages at Mega Mall.

The municipal association plays the Campionatul Capitalei in classical, rapid and blitz. The Mihail Marin club runs the monthly stages of the Maraton MM Silver League, ACS Arnia Chess IT the Bucharest Scheveningen, and the university club its Amateur Chess Open. Children’s events go to shopping centres and stores, Militari Shopping Center and Auchan among them, and to hotels by the airport in Otopeni. Each listing gives its own sections and time control.
