About this list

A game of chess in Bucharest is mostly found at a club or at a tournament: no park tables and no chess café turned up. This list therefore holds the clubs of the city and of Ilfov, the tournament series they run, and one weekly evening in a restaurant. That evening is on Thursday at La Ciotoianu Grill in Drumul Taberei, where the Mihail Marin club hosts adults and seniors for friendly games, with a small tournament in the last week of each month.

Among the clubs, those with a visible calendar are the easiest to join: The Square in Sector 2 with its rapid competitions and its open, the Mihail Marin club in Sector 6, and ACS Jocul Celor 3 Cai with its series at Hotel CARO. Many other clubs are known only from the federation register and are marked unconfirmed; their cards say what the register shows. The tournament listings give the hall, the sections and the time control of each event.
